Every year, the LLS nominates a Man & Woman of the Year.
Candidates come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. But they also have characteristics in common: They are all compassionate and relentless in their desire to find cures for blood cancers and driven to reach their own personal fundraising best. They also tend to be dynamic, outgoing and well-connected, which helps them in their fundraising campaign.
Learn Cassidy Farnsworth. She’s running for Woman of the Year!
My name is Cassidy Farnsworth and I am running for the 2018 Woman of the Year. I have always wanted to be apart of something much larger than myself and this opportunity is the perfect way to do it, alongside my amazing team, No More Bad Blood.
Last May, I graduated from Iowa State University and was looking forward to post-grad life. I had no idea that in a few short months I would be signing on to this campaign but I did know I wanted to make a difference in the community. Every 3 minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Every 9 minutes, someone dies from a blood cancer. Becoming a candidate gave me the opportunity to hopefully change those awful statistics.
Since signing on, I have seen the hardship that families face when their child is battling a blood cancer. Hearing the stories from the familes of the boy and girl of year gave me important insight as to why this campaign matters. Knowing that we are close to finding a cure is the driving force to make an impact and continue to raise funds to advance research.
I hope you’ll join me at our LLS Real Beer Yoga event, knowing that you are helping make a difference! Thank you for your support.
